What is the opportunity?
We are seeking a Director to lead regulatory compliance strategy for Personal Financing Products (PFP). In this role, you will manage a high
performing team, analyze emerging regulatory requirements, design and monitor control environments, and serve as the PFP representative
on regulatory programs. You'll combine strategic regulatory expertise with strong team leadership to ensure compliance requirements are
operationalized effectively and regulatory risks are systematically addressed. This is an opportunity to develop risk management strategies
and drive significant impact within the business.
What will you do?
Strategic Leadership & Regulatory Representation
Lead the Regulatory Initiatives team to collaborate with cross-functional partners (Product, Law, Compliance, Operations, IT, Risk) to identify opportunities, develop positions and responses, and develop strategy for timely resolution of regulatory, compliance, and audit issues
Regulatory Analysis & Impact Assessment
Analyze impending regulatory changes to determine impacts on PFP businesses; engage subject matter experts to scope the extent of impact and advise leadership regarding client/business implications and implementation recommendations
Provide strategic subject matter advice and counsel on regulatory matters including compliance with new requirements, regulatory breach reporting, and internal/external audits
Compliance & Control Environment Enhancement
Create proactive strategies to identify opportunities for enhancing the regulatory and operational control environment using quantitative and qualitative data, process expertise, and understanding of operational risk
Work with the Regulatory Initiatives team and partners to identify and implement reusable capabilities across LOB/PB platform to create efficient, scalable processes for resolving regulatory issues
Lead the regulatory controls monitoring function to ensure controls are documented, monitored, validated as effective, and support systematic regulatory gap identification and remediation prioritization
Team Leadership & Development
Lead a team of subject matter experts with deep knowledge of PFP products, processes, documentation, and regulatory requirements
Conduct regular coaching and career development conversations; establish individual development plans aligned to career goals and organizational priorities
Lead creation of training programs and materials for National Office employees regarding current regulatory requirements and effective rollout of programs
Stakeholder Communication & Compliance Reporting
Prepare and present reports to regulators relating to regulatory issue resolution; liaise with stakeholders to ensure accuracy of all communications
Maintain current knowledge of industry developments and provide proactive regulatory intelligence to business leadership and senior management
What do you need to succeed?
Previous experience in strategy development, coordination of large scale programs, and relationship management at the executive level
Strong communication and presentation skills
Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to interpret regulations and apply regulations to fact situations
Experience in banking regulatory landscape including Consumer Protection, COB, and OSFI requirements
Proficiency in controls design, monitoring, testing, and control environment effectiveness
Experience with regulatory mapping and gap analysis frameworks
Demonstrated ability to lead a high performing team
