Elevate Recruitment & Staffing is hiring a CNC Machinist on behalf of a confidential precision manufacturing client. This is a direct-hire opportunity with an established, well-equipped shop offering long-term stability and advanced machining work.
Job Overview:
You'll be setting up, programming, and operating 5-axis CNC milling machines to produce high-tolerance, high-surface-finish components. The work includes complex 3D and 2D operations on parts where precision genuinely matters — optics machining, large component machining, and core/cavity work in an unattended environment.
This is a hands-on role for a machinist who takes pride in their craft, works independently, and wants to be in a shop that runs serious equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Program and operate 5-axis CNC machines performing 3D and 2D operations
- Set up workholding using FCS and other fixturing systems
- Check machine calibration and motion accuracy before and during runs
- Perform machining checks for quality and complete required maintenance and repairs
- Troubleshoot setup, operations, and machine issues independently
- Work to specified timelines across various shifts, with and without direct supervision
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on the floor
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
Must haves:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Math and English credits)
- 2–3 years minimum experience as a machinist working independently on 5-axis milling machines Proven experience with high-tolerance, high-surface-finish machining
- Experience with optics machining, large component machining, or core/cavity work is strongly preferred
- Programming experience with WorkNC and Heidenhain controllers is an asset Strong attention to detail with the ability to monitor performance and adjust on the fly
- Team-oriented mindset. Comfortable working with supervisors, engineers, and quality inspectors Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, or rotating schedules

Manufacturing plant environment with noise, vibration, and standard PPE requirements
Shift work
Physical role involving standing for long periods, lifting, and repetitive tasks Strict adherence to all safety protocols and procedures
